Marwan Dasopang attended elementary school, then continued to the Tsanawiyah level (equivalent to junior high school) from 1976 to 1980, and continued his education at the Aliyah level (equivalent to senior high school) from 1980 to 1983. After that, he continued his studies in Islamic Law at State Islamic Institute (IAIN) North Sumatra in Medan, and successfully obtained a Bachelor of Islamic Law degree in 1989. During his college years, he was active in student organizations and served as Chairman of the Indonesian Islamic Students Association (PII) at IAIN North Sumatra in his final year of study, between 1988 and 1989. After completing his education, Marwan was active in youth and religious organizations. He served as Secretary of the Ansor Youth Movement (GP Ansor) of North Sumatra from 1990 to 1995, an autonomous body of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) focused on empowering youth and communities. In addition, between 1992 and 1994, he also served as Chairman of the Youth Bureau at Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) of North Sumatra. Subsequently, from 1995 to 1999, he was trusted to become the Secretary of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Region of North Sumatra. Source: Wikipedia
