Meutya Viada Hafid (born May 3, 1978, in Bandung, West Java) is a former journalist and politician from Indonesia. Since October 2019, she has served as Chairperson of Commission I of the People's Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), which oversees national defense, foreign relations, information, communication, and intelligence. She is a cadre of Golkar Party. Before entering politics, Meutya was known as a journalist and news presenter on the television channel Metro TV. Meutya was born in Bandung on May 3, 1978. She received her primary and secondary education in Jakarta, at State Middle School 1 Jakarta (Menteng) and State High School 8 Jakarta (Tebet). After that, she continued her studies at Crescent Girls' School in Singapore. For higher education, Meutya studied manufacturing engineering at University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, and earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree. She then pursued postgraduate education at Universitas Indonesia, and obtained a Master's degree in Political Science (M.A.). Source: Wikipedia
