Primus, who is of Iran and Java descent, started his acting career in 1993. He followed this by participating in the Coverboy model competition Aneka Yess in 1995 and was chosen as the winner of The Best Catwalk. In 2008, Primus unexpectedly announced his intention to participate in the 2008 Subang Regent Election as a candidate (paired with Agus Nurani) from an independent background. In the election on October 26, 2008, he was defeated. Not one to give up, he ran for a position as a member of the DPR in the 2009 Legislative Election as a candidate proposed by the National Mandate Party for the West Java IX electoral district (which includes Subang Regency) and was elected. In the 2014 legislative election, Primus ran as a legislative candidate for the West Java V electoral district and was elected to Senayan, serving as a member of the DPR for the 2014-2019 term with 45,485 votes.
