M. Shadiq Pasadigoe was born in Batusangkar, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra on January 8, 1960. He is the son of Mohamad Saleh Kari Sutan (also known as Pakiah Saliah) and Asiah binti Syekh H.M. Said. His father was a fighter against the Dutch colonial government from Nagari Rao-rao who was exiled by the Dutch colonial government to Digoel, Papua in 1932. The name Pasadigoe at the end of Shadiq's name is an acronym from his father's name, Pakiah Saliah Digoel. When Shadiq was born, his father was 62 years old. Pakiah Saliah passed away three months after Shadiq graduated from college in 1986. In the 2000 Tanah Datar Regency Head election held by the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Tanah Datar Regency on September 6, 2000, Masriadi Martunus who paired with Masnefi became one of the candidates for regent-deputy regent in the election.
