Syamsuar title Datuk Serisetia Amanah (born June 8, 1954) is the Governor of Riau for the term 2019–2023. Previously, he served as the Regent of Siak for two terms from 2011 to 2019 after serving as the Deputy Regent of Siak from 2001 to 2006. After graduating high school, he moved to Sawahlunto to work in a coal mine as a laborer. After three years, he moved to Bengkalis Regency and became an honorary employee for the local government. While in Bengkalis, he continued to attend the Academy of Domestic Government (APDN) in Pekanbaru, was accepted as a civil servant in 1987, and then obtained a bachelor's degree in 1990 from the University of North Sumatra. He was promoted between 1987 and 1996, and appointed as the Camat of Siak in 1996 and then as the Camat of Tanjung Pinang Barat in 2000. In 2001, he became the Deputy Regent of Siak. In 2006, he ran in the regional election as a candidate for regent but was defeated by the incumbent Arwin AS. During this period, he obtained a master's degree from the University of Riau in 2005.
