Utut Adianto Wahjuwidajat (born March 16, 1965) is an Indonesian chess player and politician who served as Vice Chairman of the People's Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2018-2019 period. He is often regarded as the best chess player Indonesia has ever had. He is a Grandmaster (GM) with the highest ranking in Indonesia currently. As a politician, Utut has been entrusted with several important positions in the DPR-RI since he was first elected as a council member in the 2009 legislative election. He then saw his career rise further as he was entrusted to become the Chairman of the PDI-Perjuangan Faction of the DPR-RI for the periods of 2014-2019 and 2019-2024. Following the amendment of the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD Law in 2018, Utut was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the DPR-RI representing the PDI-Perjuangan faction, which at that time was the political party that won the most seats in the 2014 legislative election. For the period of 2019-2024, Utut was entrusted by the DPP PDI-Perjuangan to be the Vice Chairman of Commission I of the DPR-RI. Finally, for the 2024-2029 period, Utut was appointed as the Chairman of Commission I of the DPR-RI, with duties in the fields of defense, foreign affairs, communication and information, and intelligence.
